How do I do a successful scan?

Watch the video tutorial for a quick summary on how to perform a measurement.

How to Measure

  1. Position the wheel Turn the steeing wheel so that the tread of the fron tires are visible, if possible.

  2. Position the device Position the device in landscape mode, camera facing the outer shoulder of the tire at the distance of about 20 cm (8 inches), with the device’s camera at the side of the car.

  3. Scan for 7 seconds Start the scan by tapping on the screen (or by using the volume down button) and then slowly move the device to the inner tire shoulder. Scan for approximately 7 seconds, it will stop automatically.

  4. Keep a 20 cm (8 inches) distance Try to keep the distance to the tire steady and make a straight movement.

  5. Consider the feedback Pay attention to the haptip, visual and audio feedback. Turn on your audio now, if possible.

Scanning Tips

  • Make sure that the screen orientation lock setting of your OS is not active

  • Make sure you have a stable internet connection

  • Make sure that no other tires are visible in the scan, especially no tires should be directly next to or on top of each other

  • The recording should not contain anything else than the tire tread

  • The camera must keep the focus on the tire while moving across the tire

  • You can also use the Volume Down button of the device to start (and stop) the recording, if you can’t see the screen

  • No labels
